SVG - Static Var Generator

Core Function: Primarily reactive power compensation. It acts as a controlled current source capable of instantaneously absorbing or injecting reactive power (either inductive or capacitive) in response to grid demands.

Ancillary Functions: Possesses a certain degree of harmonic mitigation capability (typically to a limited extent).

Technical Features: Characterized by extremely rapid response speeds (within 5 ms), the ability to achieve continuous reactive power regulation ranging from capacitive to inductive, and immunity to grid voltage fluctuations.

Core Function: Primarily harmonic filtering. It uses external current transformers to detect harmonic currents in the power grid in real time and actively generates a compensation current of equal magnitude and opposite phase to cancel out the harmonics.

Additional Functions: Capable of providing minor reactive power compensation and correcting three-phase unbalance.

Technical Features: Employs fully controlled technology, enabling precise mitigation of harmonics ranging from the 2nd to the 50th order.

How to select the appropriate APF capacity?
Calculate based on total harmonic current (THDi) and transformer capacity. Professional power quality analyzers are recommended for 72-hour continuous monitoring. The APF rated current should typically be about 20% higher than the system‘s maximum harmonic current.
What is the main difference between APF and SVG?
APF is primarily used for filtering 2nd-50th order harmonics, with secondary functions in small-scale reactive power compensation and three-phase unbalance management. SVG is primarily used for dynamic reactive power compensation (continuous regulation from -100% to +100% capacitive to inductive), with secondary harmonic mitigation capabilities. They can be used together to solve both harmonic and reactive power issues.
What is the difference between SVG and traditional capacitor compensation?
SVG offers much faster response (≤5ms vs seconds), bi-directional continuous regulation, zero resonance risk, and its compensation effect is not affected by grid voltage fluctuations. Traditional capacitor compensation uses stepped regulation with slow response, carries resonance risk, and compensation capacity decays as voltage drops.
What communication protocols do APF/SVG support? Can they connect to a cloud platform?
The products come standard with RS485 communication interface supporting the Modbus protocol. They can connect to the Yidek Cloud platform via a gateway to enable intelligent operations such as remote monitoring, fault alerts, and data reporting.
What reliability tests are performed before shipment?
All core modules undergo 24-hour alternating load/no-load cycling burn-in tests, along with temperature rise tests, EMC immunity tests, and salt spray tests (SVG), ensuring industrial-grade stability and long service life under complex operating conditions.
